12/11/2024 - 12/11/2024 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST
Event Description
December 11 – Corals of Florida: Ecology, Threats, and Conservation Carolyn Kovacs, Florida Sea Grant Agent for Flagler and Volusia & Florida SEE Board member
Whether you work in an environment directly related to coral reefs or far across the state, corals are a topic of interest to both visitors and residents. With the 2023 bleaching events making national news, it is important to understand what is going on with coral reefs in Florida to be able to share factual information with clients. We will learn about coral ecology in Florida, some of the main species found here, the various threats to corals in our state, and methods and organizations that are working to conserve and restore coral reefs.
*Note, this presentation was originally scheduled for November 13 but has been rescheduled to December 11 to allow for the Red Tide presentation to take place on November 13 (rescheduled due to Hurricane Milton). We hope to see you at both events!
