Event Description
Andrew WestJoin award winning photo journalist Andrew West who will share his success in capturing great shots of the natural environment and wildlife in sometimes challenging conditions. Lighting, weather, timing are all factors to consider as well as best practices for capturing great wildlife shots without impacting animal behavior.
This webinar will be conducted as a Q&A showcasing some of Andrew's best photos!

Andrew West has been a photographer/multimedia journalist at the News-Press in Fort Myers since 1997. He covers general news, the environment and documentary assignments for the newspaper and the USA Today Network-Florida. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. 

 Some of the highlights of his career include: covering all the hurricanes that have hit Florida since 2004 as well as the Bahamas in 2019; documenting a climbing trip to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2001;  traveling to Haiti multiple times to document the earthquake in 2010 and 2011,chronicling the working cowboys at the Babcock Ranch in 2006, as well as a project on the Miccosukee and Seminole tribes in 2014. He recently finished up projects on the opioid epidemic and the water crisis that affected Southwest Florida. He is now documenting the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and social justice issues related to the death of George Floyd.
 
He has won numerous awards, which include many National Press Photographers Association awards, Best of Gannett, and multiple commendations from the Society of Professional Journalists including a Sigma Delta Chi award for the work done in Haiti, the Society of News Design among others.   
 
Besides journalism, Andrew loves to photograph wildlife, and he finds Southwest Florida the perfect place to live and work.
