Bay Preserve Exploration

 FL SEE Platinum Certified- Around the Bend Nature Tours- Come explore the wonders of Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast’s Bay Preserve at Osprey. In conjunction with Conservation Foundation staff, participate in a behind the scenes tour of the property and capture a glimpse of Old Florida at this oasis on Little Sarasota Bay. Discover the bounty of the estuary in the grass flats as we wade in and net in the seagrass beds, identify the critters, then release them. Closed toed shoes that can get wet are required (we do have some to loan). 2:00-5:00pm        MOTE MARINE LABORATORY 
$16/pp
Come join Mote Marine Laboratory for a 30 minute interactive discussion about our world class marine research. Afterwards you will have a chance to explore our working lab/Aquarium at your own pace. We have interpreters stationed throughout the aquarium and marine mammal station to answer any questions you may have.   FL SEE MEMBERS receive this special access & tour for $16!

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
Florida Wildlife Corridor, The Forgotten Coast
Ms. Lindsay Cross, Executive Director

Lindsay Cross is Executive Director of the Florida Wildlife Corridor. She originally moved to the Tampa Bay area from the mid-west in 2001. Before joining Florida Wildlife Corridor, she spent 14 years at the Tampa Bay Estuary Program, working to protect and restore water quality and coastal and upland habitats. Her focus was on developing and managing research and restoration projects, facilitating stakeholder groups, and communicating results with scientists, policy makers and the public. During that time, she earned a MS in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida and a graduate of the University of Florida’s Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute.

JONO MILLER presents MOODS OF THE MYAKKA, a 14 minute film and discussion of the natural and cultural issues in the Myakka basin. Jono Miller has been a Sarasota environmental activist for the past four decades. He has led outings for the Sierra club to Myakka state park, the #1 Ecotourism destination in the Sarasota area.
